can we all just agree that "big dick fairy" is an amusing (and, i guess, descriptive) title for spam?

they're still going on about the size of my t000_l. sigh. will these ridiculous personal attacks never cease?

can we all just agree that this is top-notch encouragement*?

"the clock is ticking, my darling, and others must be informed of your genius." -the mamacita, when discussing my impending unemployment and subsequent job search.

*and when i write "encouragement," i mean both the kind that makes you feel good and the kind that gets you to do things.

can we all just agree that, although ants do not belong in my bed, there is another location where they are even less welcome?

i'll give you a hint. it's my underpants.

[curse you, blogger, for not allowing me to make "ants do not belong in my bed" a hyperlink.]

can we all just agree that things generally work out pretty well?

the schedule boggles my mind. that is all.

can we all just agree that label links are sort of neat?

i'm still not entirely sure if i think the list is too long. but there it is, right up and to the right. i hope that you like it.

i am extremely entertained by the ability to keep track (in real time! with an automatically-updating list!) of exactly how many posts there have been with any given label. yes. (go ahead, click on one. just pick one. you might like it.)

can we all just agree that this is a reasonable disclaimer?

so i was updating itunes (every once and awhile they decide that i'm getting too accustomed to the appearance of itunes and so it's time to change some colors, or round out some corners, or add some additional menu item that i don't want and can't figure out how to get rid of ["movies" and "tv shows," i'm looking at both of you. reproachfully.], so it's time to issue another update.)

and i decided to read the license agreement, just to see if they tried to sneak in some provision about promising them my first born child or something, and i came upon this part (obnoxious capital letters in original): "THE APPLE SOFTWARE IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN THE OPERATION OF NUCLEAR FACILITIES, AIRCRAFT NAVIGATION OR COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS, LIFE SUPPORT MACHINES OR OTHER EQUIPMENT IN WHICH THE FAILURE OF THE APPLE SOFTWARE COULD LEAD TO DEATH, PERSONAL INJURY, OR SEVERE PHYSICAL OR ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE."

so, are we all clear about that? don't try to use itunes to operate nuclear facilities. okay.

can we all just agree that the technorati top tags list sometimes reads like a list of excellent spam titles?

seriously, dudes. right now it says, among other things, "bi-sexuallesbian business-plan." ¿qué?

can we all just agree that padded bike shorts are a good idea?

today i got a pair, and i think my ladybits are happier already! i only had to try on 14 pairs or so to find the one pair that fit. it was kind of an exciting process, but it was strange to spend so much time staring at my own spandex-clad ass in the mirror. but padded bike shorts! so awesome!

it now also looks like i have more of a booty when i'm stealthily wearing them under pants. if that kind of false advertising is the tradeoff for comfier (and thus more frequent and longer rides), i can totally handle that.

also, it's getting to be skirt-wearing weather, and i think that padded bike shorts + a cute skirt = total spring-summer bicycle riding attire dressing success. yes!

can we all just agree that the pretty girl discount is a nice thing to get?

seriously, dude, i love it.

can we all just agree that the extension of army deployments is a pretty tough situation, and that it's pretty awkward to have been the one to tell

your army friend about it?

here is what happened. i woke up on wednesday, took a look at the news, read about how currently-deployed active duty army personnel are having their current 12-month tours of duty extended to 15-month tours, and got really upset.

there is a person i love who is in the army and is in the middle east right now, and i would like that person to come home as soon as possible. and when i find myself getting really upset about that person's being away, i try to remember that, although my feelings feel somehow special and unique, there are lots of folks all over the place who have similar feelings about other people in the army. and really, all those people want their loved ones to come home too.

anyway, i was kind of not really okay for awhile, and i needed to spend some time in the garden with my thoughts. so i did that, and then i came inside and made the person some cookies, because that's one of the things i can do. and after awhile, i thought i should email the person to let them know that i knew (the person had recently sent an email commemorating the halfway point of their deployment), and this is the exchange that followed:

me: hey, i read about the extended deployments. if that applies to you [which i was pretty sure it did] i'm really sorry. take care of yourself. i'll be in touch soon.

the person: [several hours later] no, where did you hear about that? it doesn't.

the person: [a half an hour after the other email] um, yeah. maybe it does. i'll let you know.

this exchange makes me wonder a couple of things, among them who is running the war if some random civilian knowns that the army will be away from home for an additional three months hours and hours before officers do? also, should i have phrased my email differently? i mean, i would never joke about something like that, but if i had known that i was informing that person (and possibly some of that person's colleagues), would i have written something else? oh, and also WHEN IS THE WAR GOING TO BE OVER?

that is all.

can we all just agree that the dying californian makes wonderful music?

my current favorite song is "my heaven knows no reign." it is incredibly beautiful, yes.

the first line is:

"my secret wish /
my secret wish /
is for you to break my heart."

and i dunno, maybe brother bear is right and i am a total emo kid, but i love that line. i don't really think it's true for me right now, but there is something kind of perfect about it.

(ooh good news: you can find that song and others at their website! it's www.thedyingcalifornian.com)

can we all just agree that birthdays are nice?

it's only 32 minutes old, and it's nice already. thank you life.

can we all just agree that train travel can be excellent?

but that it is more excellent if the person seated directly behind you doesn't sound just like george w. bush, both in speech pattern and accent, and also in content? sheesh.

but dozing in the sunshine (once he finally stopped talking) with beautiful views and not driving! are wonderful.
